Last week we attended the annual Microsoft Burns Supper for the second year in a row at the beautiful National Museum of Scotland in the heart of Edinburgh.
As gold certified Microsoft partners in both App and Cloud development, Screenmedia was invited to take part in Microsoft Scotland's annual celebration of Scotland's famed poet. Hosted at the stunning National Museum of Scotland, this was the second year in a row Screenmedia has attended the charity event.
Burns poems recited by Mark Stephen and Fred MacAulay were followed by the traditional Toast To The Lassies by Grant Stott, and the Reply From The Lassies by Kaye Adams, along with entertainment provided by Jai McDowall.
Over £70,000 was raised for children's charity Aberlour and homelessness charity Social Bite, including a pound-for-pound donation match by Microsoft. We were also delighted to hear from Microsoft UK CEO Cindy Rose that the company has exceeded its target of 30% female apprentices by 2020, having already hit 35% in 2019.
We were also thrilled to find that the National Museum of Scotland was showcasing a robotics exhibition, and took the opportunity to have this ABB manufacturing robot spell out our name!
We’re delighted that our enduring partnership with Microsoft has given us the chance to meet and hear from such inspiring people, and we thank them for a wonderful evening.
